Maternal mortality remains a critical public health challenge in North Carolina, with many deaths linked to cardiac conditions and behavioral health needs. According to a recent report from the North Carolina Maternal Mortality Review Committee, nearly 100 pregnancy-related deaths occurred in the state between 2018 and 2020—87% of which were determined to be preventable.

This webinar will explore underlying contributors to the leading causes of maternal mortality in North Carolina and highlight clinical and community strategies that have been shown to improve maternal safety and perinatal outcomes. Speakers will discuss practical approaches for integrating evidence-based practices into local care settings, strengthening care coordination across the perinatal continuum, and engaging patients and families as partners in care design and delivery.

Through real-world examples and actionable insights, this session will equip attendees with strategies to advance high-quality, patient-centered maternity care within their own organizations and communities.
