This educational activity is jointly provided by AXIS Medical Education and the North Carolina Healthcare Association

Target Audience:
All professionals involved in dietary and nutrition services of patients especially CMO, CNO, COO, dietary staff, TJC/DNV liaison, accreditation personnel, compliance officers, nurses and nurse educators, and others who are involved with dietary services.

Overview:
This program will focus on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) hospital conditions of participation (CoPs) on dietary, food, and nutrition services. 

Our speaker will review three changes that were made to CMS dietary guidelines for hospitals and all dietary guidelines for critical access hospitals (CAH). These guidelines were rewritten and effective as of April of 2015. The common deficiencies will be reviewed. Additionally, the program will cover the Joint Commission (TJC) provision of care dietary chapter standards, the TJC dietary tracer information and the DNV Healthcare dietary standards.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the Joint Commission tracer for food and dietetic services.
  2. Discuss the CMS section on food and nutrition services in the hospital CoP standards.
  3. Describe the Joint Commission provision of care chapter on dietetic service standards.

Faculty:
Sue Dill Calloway has been a nurse attorney and consultant for more than 30 years. Currently, she is president of Patient Safety and Healthcare Education & Consulting. She was previously the chief learning officer for the Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Foundation.
