Patient portals are now the primary way patients and families access medical records. Hospitals recognize the frustration and concern guardians experience when they cannot readily view basic information about their adolescent child’s care – such as medications, lab results, or upcoming appointments.
NCHA’s Parental Access to Electronic Health Record Task Force has worked to develop best practices that maximize parent and guardian access to minors’ medical information through proxy accounts in online patient portals, while complying with state and federal laws. These best practices reflect the features most commonly identified by both guardians and providers as essential functionalities for all guardian access.
Join us for this webinar to learn about the Task Force’s best practices and how to implement them within your organizations Epic System. Hospital subject matter experts will share their experiences implementing these features, including challenges, solutions, and key recommendations. Epic will also present their resource, “Configure Adolescent Proxy and Self Access in MyChart Checklist”.
By successfully implementing these best practices, organizations can help ensure guardians across the state have consistent and reliable access to their child’s medical information, as permitted under state and federal law.
